Kapalua Resort in Maui Hawaii Announces its Special Event Calendar...

This winter, break the monotony of those chilly days with rest, relaxation and a front-row seat to two very anticipated sporting events at Kapalua Resort (www.Kapalua.com/recreation/events/surfing-hawaii/)

This December, hundreds of world-famous surfers and enthusiastic surf followers will descend upon Kapalua Resort's majestic Honolua Bay on Maui's North Shore for the Ninth Annual Billabong Pro Maui. Presented by Hawaiian Airlines, it is the deciding event of the Association of Surfing Professionals' (ASP) Women's World Championship Tour (WCT) and is the only stand-alone ASP women's event in Hawai'i, marking the end of the season. With a holding period of 12 days, the contest is only run when surf heights and conditions reach a minimum requirement. 17 top female surfers and six aspiring trialists are invited to compete for a $67,500 purse. At the conclusion of the Billabong Pro Maui event, titles for the ASP Woman's World Title, Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and Billabong Pro Maui are announced.
