REMAX World Long Drive Announces 2009 Competition Schedule InREMAX...



RE/MAX World Long Drive Championship (WLDC) competition returns to northern Illinois for the 2009 season on June 27. All competitors can experience the challenge and excitement by competing in one of three divisions: the exceptionally competitive Open Division, as well as the Senior Division (45 and up) and Super Senior Division (53 and up). RE/MAX, the Chicago real estate leader (www.illinoisproperty.com), has been hosting local qualifiers and the district championship, since 1995.





The RE/MAX WLDC, organized by the Long Drivers of America, Inc. (LDA), provides an unsurpassed competitive arena testing how far and straight participants can drive a golf ball. As part of the championship competition, a series of local qualifying events are scheduled this summer in northern Illinois. The RE/MAX WLDC gives competitors a chance to test their long driving skills against their friends as well as some of the world'ss biggest hitters.



The entry fee is $40 for all divisions, and it entitles a competitor to hit six golf balls at a 40-yard-wide measuring grid. Drives must travel 250 yards to reach the grid.


    


Time permitting, a competitor may enter more than once, but a separate entry fee must be paid each time. Golf clubs used by competitors must be on the USGA list of conforming clubs and may not exceed 50 inches in length.



The following local qualifying events currently are scheduled in the RE/MAX Northern Illinois real estate region on the following dates (additional qualifying events may be added):



June 27, Saturday Two events -- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m., Golf Shack, 1631 Bell School Rd., Rockford, Ill., 815-332-9998. Event director is Glen Stroberg.



July 11, Saturday One event -- 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Boulder Range, 2900 Beverly Road, Hoffman Estates, Ill., 847-426-1588. Event director is Charles Black.



Aug. 7, Friday Two events -- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m., Golf Shack, Rockford, 815-332-9998. Event director is Glen Stroberg.



The Regional Championship for the Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin region will take place Aug. 8-9 at the Golf Shack in Rockford, where top finishers in all divisions from local qualifying events will compete for slots in the world championship finals.



In the finals, competitors in the Open, Senior and Super Senior divisions can earn a share of a $550,000 purse. The finals will be held Oct. 25 through 30 at the Mesquite Regional Sports and Event Complex in Mesquite, Nev.
