Finnish Companies Successful in Global Business Game Tournament



Teams from Nokia and Stora Enso made it to the final in the semifinals of a global business game tournament organized by Business Game Factory, a Finnish company. Besides the Finns, Ericsson, Philips, Sun Microsystems and Vattenfall secured a place in the final to be arranged in November. The winning semifinalist teams were this year from Finland, Germany and Spain.

Business Game Factory was founded in the beginning of 2003, and it has clients in 65 countries. The company is owned by BTS Group, the world leader in business simulations.

- Usually 5-10 teams per game division, each typically with 4-5 team members
- Available in English, Spanish and Finnish
- Follows a tournament format: winners of preliminary heats proceed to the semifinals, and the winners of these further to the yearly final
- Highly successful teams tend to get a lot of publicity within their company, and it is not unusual for the achievement to be seen as one of significance for the morale and confidence of the organization as a whole
- The three best teams of the year are invited to BGF Awards, organized in Cannes on the French Riviera
- Hundreds of companies and organizations participated in the preliminary heats of the 2006 tournament, representing 49 countries
- The preliminary heats are organized, depending on customer circumstances or wishes, either as a so-called open or in-house tournament
