ERUCES Customers to Present at SANS Encryption Summit December 3rd...



Two separate ERUCES customers will present at the SANS Encryption Conference December 3rd and 4th (http://www.sans.org/encryption07_summit/portal=d73022b6be200344949280ee6b5a9cc9). Both customers hail from the federal market space, with one government customer and the other a defense contractor, ManTech International Corporation (http://www.mantech.com). Both are expected to detail what problems the products solved, as well as any issues they had with installation through roll-out and administration.



The government customer is expected to detail their current instantiation, based on the Sun Solaris operating system, the ERUCES' transparent encryption client, and group based templates for their zero administration environment. When coupled with certificate based trusts, this client's network was segregated into a Community of Interest (COI) within the larger user base.





"The latest updates and feature releases are as a direct result to customers like these (that will be speaking at SANS). Our encryption transparency and multi-OS support were critical for our Federal customers," said Oggy Vasic, ERUCES' Vice President of Software Development, "They even tell us that one user was part of the pilot system and used our software for four months. When he accessed the data from a workstation not part of the trial, he was convinced the data was corrupted. The customer assured them it would be available during the full rollout. They didn't even know they were using our software."



ManTech will discuss their experience within a heterogeneous, VMWare based training environment. Using transparent encryption within each virtual machine, they utilize Linux, Solaris, and Windows environment for teaching OS and software installation as well as testing new system configurations. There will also be discussion of use for database encryption and possibly anonymization.



"The insider threat, where an IT administrator or other trusted employee pilfers information, was a serious consideration for ManTech," says Jon-Michael C. Brook, ERUCES' Vice President of Global Security Solutions and Sales, "We also see them discussing their ERUCES / Oracle database encryption evaluations for a couple of programs they are reviewing."



The SANS Institute's "What Works in Mobile Encryption" Summit appears to be a perfect forum for just that. According to their website, The SANS encryption conference is "an in-depth program featuring user-to-user discussions focused on lessons learned, mistakes to avoid, and technologies and processes that work in protecting sensitive data on laptops and desktops. The Summit is an interactive program with ample opportunity to get your questions answered by those who have already fought the wars. You will leave the summit with concrete, actionable information you can deploy as soon as you return to work."
