The Bureau of Engraving and Printing has just launched the first ever digital debut of the newly designed $5 bill. US currency had remained virtually unchanged since 1928 until the introduction of the newly colored $20 bill entered into circulation in 2003, followed by the $50 and $10 bills. Counterfeit currency production is nothing new, and has been occurring since prior to 1865 when Abraham Lincoln first established the United States Secret Service. The Secret Service was initially conceived of to help combat excessive monetary disorganization caused in large part by the counterfeiting of bank notes.
