FileCatalyst Direct Offers Enhanced File Synchronization for Aniden Interactive

Leading design agency Aniden Interactive today announced that it has deployed FileCatalyst Direct for file synchronization and backups. Using FileCatalyst Direct, design files including multimedia, high resolution photographs, documents, accounting information and CAD files are transferred seamlessly between the multiple Aniden offices. The proprietary FileCatalyst UDP-based protocol accelerates transfer and guarantees delivery, regardless of network performance--a must-have when syncing critical business data between international locations that have less than ideal infrastructure.

The client-server architecture of FileCatalyst allows the FileCatalyst Server to be deployed in Mountain View, California, with client-side HotFolders running in Houston, Texas and San Jose, Costa Rica. HotFolder clients monitor directory contents at both client and server sides. Once changes are detected in either direction, files are automatically updated and synchronized using FileCatalyst Direct.

"The performance of FileCatalyst in delivering files is phenomenal," said Mark Polda, VP of Productions at Aniden Interactive. "Not only does FileCatalyst delivers files faster, but it also ensures the most recent copies of files are available to team members regardless of location. The software solution greatly helps us improve our workflow and brings us closer in providing the highest quality of service to our clients."

On top of using a UDP-based protocol for guaranteed file delivery, FileCatalyst server supports legacy FTP protocol. "The parallel support for both protocols allows for an easier migration path," said John Tkaczewski, President and co-founder of Unlimi-Tech Software. "Current systems that work adequately with FTP can continue to operate status quo. However, nodes that carry large amounts of business-critical data can easily switch over to using FileCatalyst protocol to benefit from file acceleration and guaranteed delivery. This parallel support provides two alternatives to Aniden Interactive, without having them support two separate servers."

"We were finding that some FTP clients were running into issues concerning firewalls and group policy restrictions. Built into FileCatalyst clients is an Automatic Connection Detection feature which determines the optimum file transfer method and switches between UDP, FTP or HTTP," Said Cory Lowe, IT Administrator at Aniden Interactive, "This removes a lot of IT support issues from our side and makes FileCatalyst a very IT Administrator-friendly software. The ease of use of FileCatalyst is what sold us on it."
