Newton, MA April 25, 2008 -- Lyra Research, the digital imaging authority (www.lyra.com), will host a live Webcast called "The 411 on MFP/Copier Usage Trends" on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at 12 p.m. eastern daylight time (4 p.m. or 16:00 UTC). In a recent analysis of usage data collected from more than 65,000 copiers, MFPs, and printers currently in use in small, medium, and large-size businesses in North America, Lyra discovered several major findings that challenge established industry perceptions. The upcoming Webcast will spotlight several expected and unexpected trends through in-depth discussion and analysis, as well as a question-and-answer segment.
Lyra's Webcast findings are based on an analysis of printing patterns that our Office Print Monitor (OPM) service gathered from hundreds of companies throughout North America. OPM is a Lyra information service, powered by PrintFleet, that combines real-time, real-world corporate printing data with strategic analysis and insight to provide copier, MFP, and printer vendors with the information they need to evaluate and track changing printing patterns in office environments.
Frank Stefansson, CEO and executive vice president of Lyra Research, and Cortney Kasuba, industry analyst and program manager for laser consumables, will present the Webcast, which will explore why business users continue to favor monochrome printing, despite a noticeable increase in spending on color printing devices such as copiers, single-function printers, and MFPs.

Kasuba explains, "The Webcast will examine MFPs from vendors such as Xerox, Ricoh, and Konica Minolta, and explore the relationship between average print volumes, color and monochrome printing, and color and monochrome copying. Lyra's OPM research has found that, over the 12 months for which we analyzed data, monochrome printing in this comparison still hovered around 70 percent, regardless of the speed or price of the peripheral and despite the increasing color-capable installed base."
Lyra has been gathering OPM-related data (number of pages printed, coverage, color versus monochrome, etc.) from more than 65,000 copiers, MFPs, and printers installed in nearly 1,800 corporations throughout North America. In March 2008 alone, OPM tracked 258 million total pages printed; 33 million pages printed through color devices; and 16 million pages printed in color. By accessing the data directly from printer peripherals rather than surveying office users, Lyra has developed an innovative and highly accurate picture of how office imaging devices are actually used in the enterprise environment. Join us for this Webcast and prepare to be surprised by some of the findings. Sign up today! If you have questions, please call Sandy Tobin at 617-454-2612.

About Office Print Monitor
To help printer and copier vendors track changes in where and how pages are printed, Lyra has developed Office Print Monitor (OPM), an exclusive information service that broadens Lyra's in-depth coverage of office printing by combining real-world corporate printing data, powered by PrintFleet, with Lyra's strategic analysis, forecast and installed-base data, detailed hard copy specifications, and ongoing primary research programs. With PrintFleet, Lyra has established an ever-expanding panel of hard copy devices that are monitored in real time. The current panel consists of more than 65,000 devices in nearly 1,800 corporations throughout North America. On a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, Lyra can monitor each device in the panel to ascertain today's printing dynamics and to predict future trends for print volume, average coverage amount per page, and dozens of other print-related variables.
