New Online Course Highlights the Importance of Being Selfish
Brainsweep, a new online course by Evelyn Cole, the Whole-mind Writer, reminds students about the importance of being selfish. The e-course seeks to identify the self-defeating thoughts and emotions that tangle one'ss conscious efforts and affect their actions. The course is based on the following premises:
Most problems are caused by low self-concept at a subconscious level;
Low self-concept is a viral disease passed on from one or both parents to the children in varying degrees;
Low self concept leads to low expectations, dependency, disappointment, shame, guilt, and, in the extreme, to suicide;
Since low self-concepts are imprinted in childhood they reside slightly below the level of self awareness;
Writing fast with the non-dominant hand about an issue brings up some fascinating surprises and sweeps out the negative source;
Writing about beliefs on a variety of basic subjects raises self-awareness;
Greater self-awareness leads to greater self-confidence. This takes being selfish in order to live and love well.
Just as we must place the oxygen mask on children after we put it on ourselves on airplanes, we must first love and accept ourselves before we can love and accept anyone else, Cole said.
Los Angeles Psychologist, Lore Stone, Ph.D., writes, I admire BrainSweep I examined it with much interest. It has psychological validity all the way through. In fact, I plan to incorporate some of your ideas in my book.
