Local Fitness Club Hosts Marathon Raises Money For Charity
Ellipse Fitness, which has one club located in Allouez and three in Appleton, Wisc., recently held their first annual Victory Over Violence fitness marathon to benefit Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs. The fitness clubs raised $7,000, which will go towards the charity'ss programs and services.
Ellipse Fitness members each solicited sponsors totaling a minimum of $100 in order to participate in the marathon. The clubs held two four-hour sessions, and each contributor literally worked out for a total of four hours to raise money for the charity.
Located in Outagamie County, Harbor House Domestic Abuse Programs has provided protection and safety to victims and the children of victims for the past 20 years. The non-profit organization leads a community-wide partnership in the awareness and prevention of domestic violence and abuse.
Harbor House is our charity of choice, and this marathon was a perfect fit for Ellipse, said co-owner Shana Conradt. Our members worked hard by soliciting funds and also by working out for four intense hours. It was a win-win situation.
