The Spa Los Gatos Donates Over 3000 to the Family Learning Center



May 13, 2005 -- "April in Paris" brings about thoughts of blossoming flowers and refreshing spring air. At The Spa - Los Gatos it also signifies a season of new beginnings for the teenage parents who are helped daily through the efforts of The Family Learning Center and The Junior League of San Jose (JLSJ).

On Tuesday April 5th, The Spa teamed up with local businesses to bring 146 ticket holders an evening of mini-spa treatments, delicious food offerings and a raffle featuring over $2,000 in gift baskets. Three Degrees Restaurant, Jen's Cakes, Crimson Restaurant, Synchronicity Event Planning, Rosies and Posies donated goods and services while The Toll House Hotel, The Plumed Horse and Sur La Table made sure the prizes for "The Grand Gift Give Away" were as tempting as the free massages provided throughout the evening.

"We're thrilled to say that between event tickets sold, raffle ticket sales and a percentage of the two special spa services we had available through the month of April, The Spa - Los Gatos is joyfully handing over a check for $3,289.00 to The Junior League of San Jose to support their efforts at The Family Learning Center," said spa owner and director Patti Rice. "The event itself was a huge success. The attendees, our supporting sponsors and staff all had a fantastic time."

The Family Learning Center is a teen parent program located at Foothill High School, a continuation school in East San Jose. The Center provides childcare so teen parents can finish high school. League volunteers serve as mentors to the teens on the Center's Infant Advisory Council. JLSJ has also provided significant funding towards the purchase and installation of a new play structure for the 1 to 2 ½ year old infants and toddlers of parents participating in the Program.

In an effort to illustrate the power of business collaboration to benefit businesses, their clients and the greater community, The Spa - Los Gatos will continue this event for the third consecutive year in 2006.
