Ebay Sellers AntiSmoking Message Geared to the Young
May 26, 2005 -- With all the latest craze on Ebay with Mystery Auctions, Name changing Auctions and Strange food shaped Auctions, how refreshing to see an auction that actually has a message, and an important one at that.
An Ebay seller from Aurora, Ontario, Canada has put up for auction a hand drawn self portrait that was drawn by her deceased nephew.
This isn't just any self portrait, however, it shows a young man wearing an oxygen tube up his nose.
According to the seller, her nephew was
diagnosed with chronic lung disease at the tender age of 20 and was given approximately one year to live.
The young man depicted in the drawing made the mistake of smoking for months, even though he previously had asthma and chronic bronchitis. By the time he was
diagnosed with Chronic Lung Disease, his lungs were too far gone and his system too weak to have the option of a lung transplant.
The seller recalls her nephew saying after being
diagnosed with one year to live, " If only I hadn't tried smoking just to fit in, I would have my life back".
The seller is hoping that the auction will provide some enlightenment to the youth today regarding the dangers of smoking.
This is an Ebay auction with a strong message and one that shouldn't be ignored. The auction can be viewed on the Ebay auction site by typing in the auction # 5584455401
