Brenda Fruster, a breast cancer survivor and founder of Methods of Empowerment (M.O.E.), an organization dedicated to providing the public with knowledge of breast cancer, hosts Beyond
Beauty 2005, a fashion and music extravaganza.
Brenda Fruster started Methods of Empowerment (M.O.E.) in 2004 and M.O.E. on Campus at the University of South Florida (U.S.F.) in 2005. Together both groups have assisted women in the
city by providing financial assistance, transportation, home and hospital visitation as well as hosts support group meetings for those diagnosed with breast cancer.
On Saturday, October 29th M.O.E. will be hosting a free fashion and music extravaganza called "Beyond Beauty 2005" that will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm at the U.S.F.'s University Lecture
Hall located near the Sun Dome. This event will help to inform the community of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is recognized nationally in the month of October. Fashions from
Valerie Nicole, Miziq and Dillard's International Mall will be featured along with music from recording artists, dance from celebrated choreographers and stories from patients and local
writers.
Having survived the disease, Brenda continues to share her testimony via television appearances and speaking engagements on how she overcame the third stage of breast cancer and stands
completely healed today. Brenda states, "It is important that the entire community take notice of the seriousness of breast cancer. Many women are unaware of how to properly care for
themselves after being diagnosed. Worse yet, many women have to go through the disease alone. M.O.E.'s purpose is to support them on a spiritual, physical, emotional and financial level
and to let them know that someone cares for them and has been through and conquered the disease."
It is Brenda's unquenchable desire to empower each individual that attends an event hosted by Methods of Empowerment with wisdom and knowledge so that they will gain a clear understanding
of symptoms, proper care as well as the physical and mental strain of being diagnosed with breast cancer.
