The survey was conducted in January 2008 by UK-based sports bra retailer Move Active. Women aged 16-35 were asked to complete the questionnaire to find out what women know about their sports bras.
A majority 59% of women from all over the UK deem a sports bra necessary for almost every kind of sport. However, 55% do not consider the impact level of a sports bra to be important. The
more impact an activity has on the breasts, the higher the impact level of the sports bra required. If a sports bra with too low an impact level is worn, it will not do its job and may
cause premature sagging, pain and chafing.
Each woman surveyed used their current sports bra for, on average, 4.5 different activities, including activities that cause a lot of bounce, such as running, tennis, netball and
aerobics. Over half of the women surveyed who cited jogging as an activity they wear a sports bra for either did not feel that the impact level of their bra was a factor or simply did not
know what an impact level is.
Move Active's Sports Bra Activity Selector provides women with an easy-to-use tool that aims to help women select appropriate sports bras. Director John Cormack said, "Choosing the
correct impact level of sports bra makes all the difference between an easy workout and a painful one. We are working hard to give women all the information they need before choosing this
essential piece of sportswear."
To choose a sports bra based on the sports activity that you are doing
and your bra size, see the Move Active Sports Bra Activity Selector at:

Examples of women that need to worry about their sports bras:
o Bigger women will always need a high impact bra - no matter what activity they do.
o Smaller women who do high impact sports such as tennis, running and aerobics need higher impact bras - even if they are only an A cup.
o Any women who don't have the right impact sports bra for the activity they undertake can experience sagging breasts at a premature age, as well as pain and
chafing.
Women need to research the necessary sports bra to buy before purchase. Move Active offers a large range of sports bras in a variety of styles for women of all different cup sizes, and is
happy to offer advice about which bra to choose.
