Cielo MedSolutions Chief Medical Officer Recognized by Crains Health Care Heroes



Donald Nease, Jr., MD, Chief Medical Officer for Cielo MedSolutions, was recently recognized as a one of the region's "Health Care Heroes" by Crain's Detroit Business. An associate professor at University of Michigan Health System (UMHS) Department of Family Medicine, Dr. Nease and a team of two other physicians, Lee Green MD and Michael Klinkman MD, developed a web-based system to assist their practice in tracking delivery of care against clinical guidelines.

This work was licensed by Cielo MedSolutions and was the basis for Cielo Clinic, which has defined a new area of healthcare technology know as clinical quality management systems (CQMS). Cielo Clinic has since grown to encompass a wide range of clinical functionality and supports quality improvement initiatives such as the patient-centered medical home and pay-for-performance.

But these are problems every practice experiences. By making our solution available to the public, we hope to help other doctors significantly improve the quality of care they provide."

Each year, Crain's Detroit Business recognizes the region's most significant contributions to the healthcare industry by presenting its Health Care Heroes awards. Focusing on innovation and advocacy, award recipients are selected from more than 100 contenders, who are individually nominated by their peers.
