The temperatures dropped unseasonably below 60 degrees last week at White Eagle Golf Course in Naperville, Illinois, but it hardly stopped more than 130 golfers from attending Accelerated
Rehabilitation Centers's8217; annual charitable golf outing.
The sole beneficiary was Girls in the Game, a Chicago-based mentoring program for girls, dedicated to reducing the barriers young girls face when accessing quality sport and fitness
programming.
's8220;We are eight women who serve more than 12,000 girls, so we's8217;re not real strong on manpower. We don's8217;t have the staff to do all the outreach and all the planning for a big
fundraising event, so, when Accelerated told us that we were going to be the beneficiary of Accelerated's8217;s golf outing, it was a dream come true for us,'s8221; Amy Skeen, Director
Girls in the Game, said.
This is the second year that Accelerated raised more than $10,000 for the Girls in the Game fund.
's8220;We like to build relationships with the people in our community, and a large part of that is giving our time and efforts to help organizations that value our youth,'s8221; said
Randy Frieser, president of Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers. 's8220;We are proud to affiliate ourselves with Girls in the Game, because they empower young girls on and off the playing
fields, and they do it with the utmost integrity.'s8221;
Corporations that declare themselves a non-profit, must show that at least fifty percent of their earnings are allocated back into the program. At last year's8217;s audit, Girls in the
Game showed 74% went back into girls programming.
Nicole Whitter, now a freshman at Whitney Young, has been a member of Girls in the Game since she was nine years old.
's8220;I don's8217;t think Nicole would have had the learned the leadership skills that she has if it were not for Girls in the Game,'s8221; Nicole's8217;s mother, Debbie said. 's8220;Her
ability to share and speak publicly are directly related to her experience there.'s8221;
's8220;We always have such a great time with the girls, and we look forward to doing it again next year,'s8221; Frieser said.
