American Community Names Three Key Executives

American Community Mutual Insurance Company, a leading provider of Individual and Group health insurance, announced today the following appointments:

- Farooq N. Khan, Director of Accounting

- Marjorie S. Pedigo, Director, Individual Underwriting and Medical Services

- Ellen M. Simonds, Director, Applications Support

Khan joins American Community from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina where he spent seven years as Manager of Statutory Financial Reporting. During his tenure, he was selected as a member of the Statutory Accounting Advisory Group (SAAG) by the BCBS Association, Chicago, where he helped shape various National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) statutory accounting rules. In Khan's new position, he is responsible for the oversight of the finance team, which includes financial reporting, accounts payable and receivable, claims recovery and policy enforce reporting.

Pedigo was promoted from Manager, Individual Underwriting and Medical Services to Director, Individual Underwriting and Medical Services. Pedigo has been with American Community for over four years and in her new role she is responsible for overseeing operations in individual health underwriting, medical review of claims, medical referral process, as well as post-issue review.

Simonds was named Director, Applications Support, responsible for the application development and support areas, which includes the web, agent and architecture teams, as well as the Service Orientated Architecture (SOA) team, which is a new team designed to focus on software component re-use, platform independence for business logic, avoidance of redundant programs and redundant data. She recently served as Manager, Applications Support.
