NetLIMS Financial System Improves New York Clinical Lab Insurance Reimbursements...



NeTLIMS NJ, LLC, a provider of Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), announced recently that their AutoBilling's8482; module has helped Shiel Medical Laboratory in Brooklyn, New York improve its insurance reimbursements by ten percent. Shiel Medical Laboratory is one of the country'ss oldest, continuously operating clinical laboratories and the largest privately-held lab in New York.



Our billing department was very unhappy with the capabilities of our legacy LIS system, explained Aron Junger, CIO at Shiel. They thought we were losing a lot of additional billing opportunities because of the old system'ss limitations.



During a year-long selection process, a committee that consisted of Shiel'ss CFO, CEO, billing manager, lab director and an IT manager interviewed all of the major LIS vendors and selected NetLIMS located in Jersey City, New Jersey.



What attracted us to NetLIMS was their customization capabilities and the relatively short time they could accomplish these tasks, commented Tod Schild, Senior VP of sales and marketing at Shiel. When seeking reimbursement from large healthcare organizations, you have to be able to go line by line -- test by test -- and be able to correctly apply what you'sre getting reimbursed for and what you'sre not. The NetLIMS system allows us to get very specific and seek reimbursement for charges that we were denied in the past because we just didn'st have the capability to track those charges down.



The new LIS billing system helps me quickly redirect my sales reps's efforts wherever I see a need, continued Schild. I can quickly get a breakdown of insurance summaries and identify which may not be a good account for us. It allows me to immediately identify the strengths and weaknesses of a particular account. We'sre capturing at least 10 percent more in reimbursements from our insurance providers.
