May 21, 2005 -- Today, the North Carolina Association of Health Plans (NCAHP) publicly endorsed North Carolina Senate Bill 1048 and its companion North Carolina House Bill 1248. Earlier
this week, NCAHP testified on behalf of the industry in support of the identity theft legislation. During the early drafting of this legislation, NCAHP was very active with the Attorney
General's Office to show the industry's support.
"Identity theft is a major concern for NCAHP," stated Marlowe W. Foster, president and secretary of the North Carolina Association of Health Plans board of directors. "As an industry, we
are focused on protecting the privacy and identity of our members. We work to enhance privacy and take precautions against identity theft while ensuring that we are able to continue to
effectively communicate with our members. We support this identity theft legislation to help protect all North Carolinians from fraud."
The North Carolina Association of Health Plans (NCAHP) is a trade association of health services companies dedicated to providing value in health care benefits to over five million North
