Entries must be received by April 27, 2008. Six finalists will be chosen and posted on CasaQ.com with one grand prize winner being chosen on May 5, 2008 by the public. The winning entry's mother will receive a prize package, which includes a surprise serenade from a live Mexican Trio, Mamacita Vermont Teddy Bear and a 1-800-Flowers Margarita Bouquet. Serenade may not be available in some areas.
Excerpts from entries include:
"She showed me how a woman could have a successful career, and a sparkling clean house all while juggling 5 needy children and a husband. Thank you Mom for showing me how to get 20 things done in one day while still looking perfectly coordinated!"
"My abuelita (grandmother) taught me about the power of prayer, forgiveness and how to love unconditionally and to help others in need. She taught me that even a few people can make a difference if they make an effort together and rally support for their cause."
"In the fifth grade, I was an excellent reader who thought I already knew everything I needed to know and didn't want to go to school anymore. My mother said 'That's fine you don't have to go to school anymore, just read the encyclopedia from A - Z.' Happily I dove in and realized very quickly that I knew nothing. Needless to say I went back to school!"
