Dollpropertiescom rated the number one dollhouse website by insiders
As an independent reporter for the hobby industries, I take it upon myself, James Alstead, of Hobby Reporter, to poll buyers on genre of their personal hobby interests and where they shop.
In a recent poll on the dollhouse and miniatures industry, I found that many shoppers search the web looking for the best quality products at the lowest prices. Though some of them admitted that sometimes price isn't an issue, most said they look for free shipping and low prices on collector's products.
In this poll, conducted between June 1st and July 15th of 2005, I questioned them on their favorite dollhouse brands. The answers came out Dura-Craft and Real Good Toys. I asked many of them why they chose Dura-Craft and they said that buyers get more for the money. On the subject of Real Good Toys, they said the selection was the largest in the industry. The next question included where they shopped most frequently. Their answers were www.dollproperties.com and miniatures.com to name a few.
Eighty percent of the people said they had shopped at www.dollproperties.com while 65 percent said they shopped at miniatures.com. Both of these companies are completely independent of each other, the poll was not conducted for advertisement purposes. As the conversations and questions continued, both written and spoken, I asked them how they came upon these sites, and many of them answered www.google.com and www.msn.com. Outside of the main miniatures websites, Ebay came up quite a bit. The reason so many people chose Ebay was because of the great deals on high quality products.
I recently spoke with www.dollproperties.com's President, Charles Rhodes, and he said, "These statistics do not surprise me. More and more people are finding what they need on the Internet. Many industries, such as ours, have changed from main stream brick and mortar to the world of the Internet."
He also went on to say that much of www.dollproperties.com's business is contributed to advertising auctions on Ebay.
In one of Charles's final comments, he said that, "people are also looking for exclusive hard to find products, and at www.dollproperties.com we have those items, such as the Dura-Craft line. Dura-Craft Dollhouses at great prices, that is rare."
Of course, any discussion with a President of any company will generally turn to an advertisement. As it appeared to be, I still was convinced that Charles was right about his website and many other websites in which people buy from most often.
I have come to the conclusion that sites like www.dollproperties.com find their success in their exposure and rich product stock. Having this exposure and product stock, they are able to excel in business in their industry due to their low price points, great service, and of course a great understanding of the business.
In the end, my conclusion on the dollhouse industry has come to this- many people look for websites that provide great service, good prices, and unusual product choices. After all, if you, the buyer, were a collector, your ambitions would be to find items not so commonly available. For The Hobby Reporter, I am James Alstead. This poll was conducted through non-partial information sources.
