San Francisco Luxury Photography Safari Takes Participants 1200Feet...

Chris Golson'ss Photography Adventures announces a new photo workshop set in the San Francisco Bay Area that will include a photo shoot aboard a Zeppelin in flight. This three day luxury immersion program takes place September 27 - 30 in Half Moon Bay, a small coastal community located 24 miles south of San Francisco. The course is limited to 10 students to ensure ample one-on-one instruction. The fee is $3,600. Luxury accommodation arrangements can be made at the nearby Seal Cove Inn for an additional fee.

We want to offer a top quality photography class at a great locale in a relaxed atmosphere; one that offers an excursion experience not to be forgotten, said Golson. Too often classes lack one-to-one teacher attention or have 500 attendees crammed into an airport hotel conference hall. Our Photography Adventures are really different--going up in a Zeppelin, trekking through an ancient cedar forest, returning end of day to a Star Coastal Inn is unique.

Curriculum From 1,200 Feet Above

The workshop is designed to deepen the practical skills and artistic groundings of the aspiring beginner and intermediate photographer, and will include a mix of interactive classroom seminars and outdoor photo shoots, such as shooting under challenging light in a silent cypress forest and creative digital photography: exploring how master photographers take advantage of the eyes's capabilities. Foremost among the assignments will be the airborne safari from a state-of-the-art Zeppelin. The Zeppelin, one of only a handful in existence today, meets the highest safety standards and offers an exceedingly comfortable and quiet ride. Vehicles such as this helium-powered 300 foot vehicle have very low vibration, making them ideal for scientific missions that require recording measurement with sensitive test equipment--and for picture-taking.

Capturing light perfectly at sunset and shooting from an incredible 180-degree perspective aboard the airship offers a memorable experience. This will be the first time the airship is completely dedicated to a photographic teaching session, said Karsten. Whether on the ground or flying high overheard, we'sll be helping each photographer develop his or her unique style of photography.

Instructors

Leading the three-day shoot will be acclaimed Dutch photographer Dirk Karsten and noted Silicon Valley technologist and photographer Chris Golson. Karsten is an award-winning Amsterdam-based advertising photographer often commissioned by global firms such as Mercedes, American Express, Heineken and Sony. His work has been featured in each edition for several years of Lurzer magazine'ss 200 Best Ad Photographers Worldwide, and his art has been shown in The Hague'ss Gemeente Museum. Golson is a Silicon Valley photographer and technologist, and frequent guest lecturer at The Pacific Art League where he gives workshops on creativity, portraiture and histograms; he has cultivated a strong following for his right brain / left brain teaching technique in photography. Golson has produced book covers for Gringo'ss in Paradise, the Pacific Art League and the Pacific Art Center, as well as the North Fair Oaks Association. A touchpoint of Golson'ss long career in imaging includes helping develop and launch HDTV technology for Sony Corporation.

Luxury Accommodations

Lodging plus gourmet meal plan is offered at the Seal Cove Inn, a luxurious and secluded bed and breakfast. The coastal region of Half Moon May offers varied outdoor photographic challenges: afternoon fog creeping through dense forests; massive herds of seals sunning themselves on craggy shores; commercial fisherman returning to the harbor. The area also provides ample activities for family members: horse riding on the beach, the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, an opportunity to stroll charming rustic streets dotted with quaint art galleries, country stores and top-notch restaurants.

The fee for the three-day photography program is $3,600 per person. Optional Seal Cove Inn stay and meal package is $1,300.
