Fans of rock, blues, and other popular music will get a free sampling of South Bend, Indiana musical talent, when ten popular groups perform on Friday and Saturday, August 8 and 9, at The Woodwind and Brasswind (http://www.wwbw.com/CustomerService/RetailStore.aspx). This family-oriented musical entertainment is part of The Woodwind and Brasswind's three-day Summer Fest. Festivities will begin at noon on Friday, August 8 with a performance by JJ and the Rockers, the Grondin Quintet, Dave's Mighty Harp, and the Van Dyke Review.
"To spice things up, WRBR disc jockey, Tommy Carroll, will broadcast his radio program live from the Summer Fest on Friday from 2 to 6 p.m.," notes Gene Semmelhack, Director of Marketing
for Woodwind and Brasswind (http://www.wwbw.com). He adds, "Closing out Friday's live entertainment at 6 p.m. will be Rhythm Works, a globally influenced
drumming and original percussion fusion ensemble."
On Saturday, the Summer Fest begins at 9 a.m. with a live broadcast by WAOR disc jockey, Mike Ragz. At noon, the stage will be turned over to Jake, the Rock Kid, from WAOR's School of
Rock Club. Other groups slated to perform at The Woodwind and Brasswind (http://www.wwbw.com/CustomerService/RetailStore.aspx) on Saturday are: Ceiling Star (1:30 p.m.); The Giden Brothers (3 p.m.);
The Funky Blues Institution (4:30 p.m.); and Unwritten (6 p.m.).
"In addition to the live entertainment, we will also be holding Fastest Drummer, Guitar Hero (http://www.wwbw.com/Search.listN=61&Ntt=guitar+hero+controller) Rock Band, and Karaoke competitions, with
prizes for the winners. Throughout the day door prizes will also be awarded, and food and drinks will be available for purchase," noted Semmelhack. While the outdoor events are taking
place, there will be in-store product demonstrations and clinics, including a performance at 2 p.m. on Saturday by Gibson Guitar clinician, John Corabi. Weekend activities continue on
Sunday, August 10, with a Battle of the Bands contest between noon and 6 p.m., featuring six popular area bands competing for $3,000 in prizes.
