Lucille Campilongo, author of iUniverse (www.iuniverse.com) title Lucia'ss Survival Guide and Cookbook (http://www.iuniverse.com/Bookstore/BookDetail.aspxBookId=SKU-000093356), was featured last Friday on a segment on NBC'ss The Today Show.
The book originated in 1981 when Lucille compiled practical household tips and easy recipes into a notebook for her domestically challenged teenaged daughter Gina, who was moving to Italy
for a year. After nearly three decades of use in her own home, Gina decided self publishing (http://www.iuniverse.com/Why-IUniverse.aspx) the contents of the tattered notebook through iUniverse was the best option for preserving
what had become a family heirloom.
The reason we had the book published was because we wanted to hand it down from generation to generation, Gina said during the Today segment, and I didn'st want to give up my manuscript.
I didn'st want to give that up.
iUniverse completed publication of Lucia'ss Survival Guide and Cookbook (http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/28312184#28312184) in the spring of 2008. Gina and her husband Allen presented
the first copy of the published book to a surprised Lucille shortly afterward.
I didn'st realize she still had it (the original notebook) all these years and was using it. She never mentioned it, Lucille told Today host Meredith Vieira.
