WHAT LOCKOUT WHATIFSPORTSCOM LOCKS IN FUN FOR NHL FANS WITH SIMULATION...

September 30, 2004 -- The National Hockey League and its players are at a standstill regarding a collective bargaining agreement. The players are locked out of the rinks, and the owners are determined to strike a more favorable labor contract.

But all of this should not mean that NHL fans should not follow their favorite teams for the 2004-05 season.

WhatIfSports.com the leading sports simulation site on the Internet, today announced that 30 lucky fans will be selected to manage an NHL team through an online simulation of the 2004-05 season.

The WhatIfSports.com simulation will feature the actual 2004-05 NHL schedule and all of the up-to-date NHL team rosters. Registered WhatIfSports.com users who sign up to take part in this venture will be randomly drawn and assigned to coach and manage their favorite teams for free.

Throughout the simulated 82-game season, all player statistics will be tracked, team standings compiled, awards granted and playoffs determined en route to crowning perhaps the only 2004-05 Stanley Cup champion. NHL fans must be a registered WhatIfSports.com user to participate. Registration is free, but users must sign-up for the NHL simulation by October 3 at http://www.whatifsports.com/nhl/nolockout.shtm

"Hockey fans are some of the best in all of sports," said Tarek Kamil, President of WhatIfSports.com. "We want to provide them with a way to stay involved with the sport they are so passionate about, even with the labor issues the NHL is facing."
