"We hope to bring the breadth of what Miami has to offer the modern furniture design (www.furnitureseen.com) audience: from well-known mid century modern pieces by Breuer, Eames, Saarinen and van der Rohe to pieces from the regional designers that set Miami apart," said Anita Engs, General Manager of Furnitureseen.com.
Furnitureseen.com will continue its quest to bring furniture designs to architects, interior designers and consumers, city by city, in order to provide a convenient, tangible way to look for modern pieces. Regionalism not only serves the practical need of locating nearby modern furniture studios and showrooms, but offers a vehicle for celebrating local design. "Global design in many ways has blurred the lines of regional design. However, we have noticed common threads running through modern furniture design from distinct regions of the country", said Engs. "The experience people share by living and working together still seems to influence the work, and Miami is no exception."
The addition of the Miami market continues the company's commitment to becoming the best online resource for finding modern furniture at showrooms and studios in local markets. Furnitureseen.com does not sell modern furniture, rather it seeks to connect interior design (www.furnitureseen.com) professionals and consumers shopping online for modern furniture with likeminded retailers in their area.
About Furnitureseen.com
Furnitureseen.com is dedicated to linking members of the design community and consumers to brick and mortar showrooms and studios that feature modern design. In response to their own frustration with the amount of time and effort shoppers must devote to locating original, modern home furnishings (www.furnitureseen.com), Anita Engs and Susan Reed created the site. The site features hundreds of products from more than 80 vendors in Miami, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Chicago, and has the goal of connecting architects, interior designers, set designers and consumers with modern furniture showrooms and studios.
In order to quantify the Web site's services, Reed and Engs conducted field studies in San Francisco and New York. They attempted to visit as many furniture showrooms as possible in a single day. During six hours in San Francisco, the pair visited 12 showrooms. During their six hours in New York, the pair visited 20 showrooms. The experiment left them exhausted, but clearly illustrated the value of www.furnitureseen.com as a convenient, time-effective way to shop for modern furniture.
