The Kobiellas began as an eBay business, and later expanded to their first web site at www.WaterFountainsDecor.com. "We believe that ecommerce is going to be the mainstream of retail business," explains Mark, who enthusiastically maintains the site and blog. "We're enthusiastic about our products. We want to make this an extension of ourselves through our past, through generations of things we've done, as far as nature and things we're interested in. We've been rock collectors and this goes way back three generations in our family. My grandfather used to collect stones and geodes from all over, and he built a rock garden. I remember going over and seeing his rock garden as a child, with its pond and water fountain. I loved the beauty of those stones, and we discovered products online with those beautiful stones inlaid, which is what intrigued us to get started retailing water fountains."
Maintaining the blog is as much a way to bring customers closer to the workings of the business as it is a method to inform them of what's new in the store. "We intend to add more product lines, because we would like to be the one-stop shop," says Mark. "We only like to carry the highest quality products, with hand-inlaid stone and natural features like amethyst geodes and gemstones, natural formations I want to know what our customers think, and what they want to see more of."
The blog will also detail specials and events at the store. "We offer more specials and discounted prices than any other site that I've seen online," says Mark. "We're currently having a spring special, because everybody's starting to think gardens and outdoors. We have a lot of select items from 10% to 50% off."
