Exotic World Gifts Gallery Will Showcase Distinctive Works of Art at San Diegos ArtWalk on the Bay

Exotic World Gifts' founders Liz Allen and Mark Fangue will display a range of distinctive gifts from developing countries, as one of the juried participants of ArtWalk on the Bay, slated for the weekend of September 13-14, 2008 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Embarcadero Marina Park North in San Diego, California. They will be among more than 150 artists from the US and abroad participating in the event.

"We have titled the exhibit 'Exotic World Gallery' which reflects part of our company name (www.ExoticWorldGifts.com) and the fact that every item could truly grace the shelf of a prominent gallery," said Liz Allen, CEO. "Our ceramic bowls with finely woven sedge grass from Swaziland have been created with multiple colors and textures of grass and include an inner core ceramic design. Each piece is uniquely made and, beyond its beauty, the bowl also tells a story of the women in Swaziland--true unknown artists--and we are honored to present their works and to pay them a sustainable wage for their efforts."

In addition to the bowls, the Company plans to include rare paintings created by Thai elephants. These elephants were discovered by Allen and COO Mark Fangue during a recent trip to identify high quality products created by local artisans. One of the elephant's amazing talent was captured by Fangue on video, which he subsequently posted on You Tube. To date, that video has received more than 9 million hits and the paintings which created awe and inspiration will be sold during ArtWalk on the Bay. They will display paintings of an elephant holding a flower, multiple flower themes and simple modern art renditions. As with the ceramic bowls, proceeds from the sale of the paintings are returned to the elephant camp to assist the trainers, villagers and the elephants.

The Company also will feature jewelry from Bali, including necklaces and bracelets woven with chalcedony and lapis. Each item is unique and hand-designed with multiple, rich color combinations of both thread and stones. Often the color combinations include chalcedony, brown/green thread, and small silver ornaments between large and small jewels, and will be offered for $350-500.

"With more than 300 items on our Web site, we have selected items we believe capture the unique talents of our artisans from Africa, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, and other countries. These items are both works of art and have utility in every day life," Allen explained, adding that she and Fangue make frequent trips to these countries to personally meet the artists and select the items.
