Plumridge Silks announcing the release of a new fabric: Scaff Silk Linen. With fabulous luster and body's8212;and treated with fire retardant in the yarn state's8212; Scaff Silk Linen
will rival silk dupione for its variety of commercial applications.
In addition to a solid silk line, Plumridge is collaborating with California artist Joshua Abarbanel to create a unique, abstract print series called Plumridge Abarbanel.
Abarbanel traverses his home state studying, drawing, and photographing the subtle details of the California landscape. Now he is teaming with Plumridge Silks to interpret the beauty and
diversity of California's8217;s many geographies's8212; from sandy beaches and rocky points to surprisingly lively deserts and majestic mountain regions's8212;in a new print line on Scaff
Silk Linen.
The first three series in the Plumridge Abarbanel line are titled Big Sur, Joshua Tree, and Tahoe. For the Big Sur series, Abarbanel has trained his artist's8217;s eye on the Central
California area's8217;s redwood trees, fern grottoes, driftwood, moss, rock formations, and bark to create a series of abstract designs in a palette of blues, greens, and tans.
Several recent trips to Southern California's8217;s high desert have inspired the Joshua Tree series. That region's8217;s eye-catching rock piles, dunes, colorful gravel, unusual
plants's8212;including the woody skeletal stems of dead cholla and delicate desert flowers's8212;and even shed lizard skins were points of departure for Abarbanel's8217;s designs for this
series, which features a palette of golds, rusts, greens, reds, and browns.
A third series was designed in consideration of the pine needles and cones, granite ledges, and snow's8212;both hard-packed and melting's8212;that characterize the Sierra Nevada
Mountains. Here the dark browns and dark greens of the regions's8217; tall trees combine with the white of snow and the clear blues of lakes and streams to create the Tahoe series.
Plumridge Abarbanel will initially offer nine prints per season, three per series. Each print will have four to six color ways that coordinate perfectly with Plumridge's8217;s solid silk
linen, and will be printed to order on Scaff Silk Linen with no minimums, making it easy to bring the inspiration of California's8217;s diverse landscape into homes across the
country.
