"We knew we would receive a large response from students, but we didn't think we would receive this many submissions. Our judges really had a tough job, but they eventually had to pick two grand prize winners. I applaud all of the students who participated and inspired the staff at Learning By Grace with their brilliant pieces of art," stated Rothschild.
Eleven-year-old Haley Collibee won the grand prize for the Preschool through 5th grade age group with her painting entitled "A Cat." Collibee is a home schooling student from Lynn, Massachusetts who enjoys reading, drawing, and being with her loved ones. Seventeen-year-old Leah Cim Hardy won the grand prize for grades 6th through 12th for her painting "My Dove, My Perfect One." The idea for her painting comes from a passage in Song of Solomon in The Bible.
"Haley is an incredibly gifted painter, especially when considering how old she is. Our judges were impressed with her technique and passion," says Rothschild. "Leah's painting was beautiful, compelling, and profound."
The grand prize winners will each receive a gift certificate to Utrecht Art Online Supply Store. Contestants were allowed to enter paintings, sculptures, crafts, colorings, models, ornaments, engravings, bead art, photographs, digital images, origami, and other forms of art. The contest was open to both home school and traditional students in Preschool through 12th grade.
