The New Las Vegas Marathon is looking for one or more couples willing to run the entire race and get married at the Run Through Chapel near mile 5.

Planning is underway for the third annual Las Vegas Marathon. Coordinators for the December event met at Mandalay Bay Wednesday and announced a special offer for this year'ss participants. Executive Director Terry Collier says they'sre offering free training for someone from each Las Vegas casino. They will actually go through our 28-week Roadrunner Training Program, leading up to the Dec. 2nd Las Vegas Marathon and half marathon. And that'ss exciting, because that one employee from casino properties will (inspire) others within the workplace to come out and join us, Collier said. Training with the Roadrunners begins May 27th. Casino employees who want to enter the contest for free training will need to write an essay -- in 100 words or less -- why they want to run in a marathon.

With a 50% increase in participants over 2005, the 2006 race attracted runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes from all 50 states and 40 nations. If the race increases an additional 50% in 2007, we will reach the cap of 25,000 participants set by Clark County Nevada and the City of Las Vegas.
