After his 14 month old daughter'ss battle with a rare form of cancer in 2004, Paul Neal, President of Chesapeake Home Equity Company Capital Financial Home Equity, wanted a way to give
back to the Children'ss Hospital of The King'ss Daughters, whose staff and resources led her to recovery. Last year, Neal proposed and helped organize the 1st annual 'sRun Walk for the
Kids's fundraiser in conjunction with Kings Daughters, putting forth a significant donation from the company.
The doctors, nurses and staff of Children'ss Hospital were absolutely amazing. They treated my daughter with so much love--even giving her wagon rides in the middle of the night to make
her smile. Thanks to them, our little girl is healthy and happy. It'ss the least I can do to ensure that this fine hospital has the necessary resources to give every patient the same
chance they gave my daughter, says Paul Neal, President of Capital Financial Home Equity (http://www.cfhequity.com).
The second annual Run Walk for the Kids event will take place on June 16th, 2007. Registration begins at 6:30am for the 8k run and 2 mile walk beginning at 7:30 am and will begin at CHKD.
The day will also include a 1-mile children'ss 'srun for fun's marathon and wheelchair race at 9:30 am.
The cost to participate if registering before May 18th is $25 for adults, $12 for children under 18, or $10 per person for a family of 4 or more. More details and an online registration
form can be found on the Run Walk for the Kids website located at: http://www.runwalkforthekids.org/.
The social goal of Run Walk for the Kids is to generate support for CHKD through a family focused event that is educational, fun, and healthy-life centered. Financially, the goal of the
event is to raise $100,000 through corporate sponsorships to be donated to CHKD.
In addition to individual participant donations, corporate sponsorships will also help to meet the fundraising goal. Current sponsors include Capital Financial Home Equity, Wavy 10, Towne
Bank, Pepsi, Tidewater Striders, Adventures in Advertising, Chiquita, and Bank of America.
