Hot Compress Herbal Treatment is Now Available at Maya Ubud Resort...

The Hot Compress herbal Treatment is an ancient Thai healing therapy that has been used for centuries to soothe aching muscles, increase blood circulation, and relieves aches and pains. This 60 minutes treatment utilizes the bounty of Bali's own natural medicine chest. Two pouches are stuffed with Maya's special blend of eleven, locally harvested, traditional healing herbs, including ginger, turmeric, galangal, betel, pomelo, kunjit and cinnamon.

The pouches are heated in an steamer and the warm steaming bundles are alternately applied directly to the skin. The essential antiseptic, antibacterial, warming, stimulating and healing properties of the herbs evaporate into the steam and are absorbed into the skin before condensing again into the cotton cloth in which the herbs are wrapped. Hot compresses provide marked relief of symptoms associated with rheumatism, arthritis or other joint stiffness.

The treatment relieves pain and inflammation, loosens cellulite, increases blood circulation, promotes lymphatic drainage, refreshes and nourishes the skin and soothes the underlying connective tissues. All areas of the body benefit from the treatment as the compresses are rolled, massaged and pressed into tight muscles and onto problem areas and energy pathways. A number of the traditional herbs used in the compress possess aroma-therapeutic stress relieving and calming properties, so the treatment is also effective in balancing the mind and spirit.

For centuries, the Balinese have incorporated therapeutic and medicinal herbal remedies into their traditional healing practices, and this ancient wisdom still remains an integral part of their lives today.
