Denver, Colo. July 26, 2006 -- Argosy University has named Dr. Marcia Bankirer president of the new Denver campus, located at 1200 Lincoln St., Denver. She will oversee Argosy's8217;s
graduate and doctoral education programs in business administration, counseling, psychology, counselor education and organizational leadership and recruit and direct faculty for those
classes, which begin Sept. 6, 2006. Argosy University/Denver shares its location with The Art Institute of Colorado, with 100,000 sq. ft. of classroom, computer lab, library and
administrative space.
Previously, Dr. Bankirer was president of Argosy University/Chicago and held higher education leadership positions with Colorado State University, Iowa State University and Western
Governors University. She served as Dean of Extended Learning at Central Michigan University and was a member of the United States Distance Learning association as well as the PBS
Academic Program Committee.
She has consulted on the topic of establishment and administration of technology-based continuing education programs for Hewlett-Packard Corp., University of Cincinnati, University of
Alabama, University of Delaware, Portland State, University of Southern Colorado, University of Montana and Michigan State University.
Dr. Bankirer has been published in several journals of higher education on the topic of distance learning and she holds her Ph.D. in Adult and Higher Education Administration from the
University of Wyoming, where she established that university's8217;s technology-based educational outreach program.
