Newport, RI June 28, 2009 -- Advanced Financial Services marked more than a quarter-century as a company on May 13, 2009. After all, more Rhode Islanders rely on non-profit social service agencies for essentials like food and housing than they have in decades. In celebration of the company'ss anniversary,
each employee brought in $26 dollars worth of non-perishable food items. In all, Advanced Financial Services's 350 employees donated over $9,000 worth of food.
Donations were delivered to Community Baptist Church and Food Pantry, East Bay Community Action Program, Family Service of Rhode Island, Martin Luther King Center, Newport Residents
Council, Salvation Army of Newport, and St. Joseph'ss Church Food Pantry. It is estimated that this amount of food lasts each organization approximately two months.
In a similar event earlier this year, Advanced Financial Services collaborated with Amos House for its 17th Annual Sales Banquet. Amos House is a Providence area non-profit soup kitchen
and shelter serving hundreds in Rhode Island on a daily basis. Amos House catered the sales banquet, with all the proceeds helping the organization to fulfill its mission of feeding Rhode
Island'ss hungry and sheltering its homeless. Each teammate donated two soup cans for admission to the event and passed on a hat, scarf or pair of gloves for Amos House'ss beneficiaries.
