"Tio understands the opportunities and challenges facing the wild quail, our organization, its members and sponsors and has the platform of knowledge that provides a fast track assimilation of his talents," emphasized Evans. The Board of Directors of Quail Unlimited is the governing body of the organization and its combined member talents shape the course of conservation on a landscape basis in the United States with regard to quail and upland wildlife.
Kleberg's community involvement is well known with such awards as Texas Tech University's Distinguished Alumni award, Texas A & M University's Presidential Award, South Texan of The Year, American Quarter Horse Association Induction in the Hall of Fame, Texas Board of Education- Honoree-Hero for Kids and the Harvey Weil Conservation Award for Conservation. His leadership was present on many Boards of Directors including Alice National Bank, Kleberg First National Bank, National Cutting Horse Association, South Texas Heritage Rodeo, Texas Commerce Bank, Texas Tech Alumni Association and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. Tio is also the Chairman and Trustee for the Caesar Kleberg Foundation for Wildlife Conservation and serves on the advisory board of the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife research Institute at Texas A & M, Kingsville.
QU, through its dedicated chapter members coast to coast, is leading the charge to restore the natural habitat of wild quail, working with private landowners as well as state and federal agencies across the country with unprecedented partnerships. By putting on local events and fundraisers, QU chapters raise conservation dollars that are then used for on the ground projects in their area.
