Florida Woman Bags Monster Gator

Lauren Brown of New Smyrna Beach, Florida bagged a record size gator during Florida's alligator harvesting season, Tuesday night, October 16th.

Ms Brown bagged a 12 foot 8 1/2 inch American alligator, having a girth of 51 1/2 inches and an approximate weight of 550 pounds on a lake in Lake County, Florida.

Using a pink "Lady GatorStick" harpoon, manufactured by RatWorks, Ms Brown threw and made contact with the monster reptile on the first throw. After an approximate 45 minute struggle, the alligator was muscled along side the airboat operated by Captain Phil Walters of GatorGuides.com Tampa, Florida, gaffed and dispatched to gator heaven with a four inch blade pocket knife.

Lauren Brown will be entered as a member of "Team Ratworks" and a leading contender in the Central Florida Trophy Hunts' "Big Gator Shootout," which will award an estimated $7,500 grand prize to the contestant harvesting the largest alligator during Florida's public alligator hunting season.
