Archery was a natural choice for Matthew Schaal's business. "I have a passion for archery hunting," Matthew confesses, "and 20 or so years ago I thought about opening up an archery store locally." That plan brought with it an inherent flaw, however; one Matthew couldn't ignore. "It interfered with my hobbies," he explains. "I'd be busy all through deer season, so I didn't do it."

All of that changed in December. "My wife is constantly looking for things on the Internet, and we ran across a web site builder," says Matthew, remembering fondly. "I sort of took off with the building of the web site in the archery business. I chose to do things online because it doesn't interfere with my hunting, and it's easier to do business year-round."

Being a dedicated bow hunter himself, Matthew is committed to thinking of his customers first, last, and always. "The reason for the whole store was to get the best price to my customers, and that's my goal and what I'm trying to achieve every day," he says, which explains why he created his new blog at www.MyDiscountArcheryStore.net. The sister site to his store is a source of information on products and on hunting, and serves as a touchstone for Matthew to interact with his customers.

"I'll be checking my blog often to get feedback from customers, and I'll be using that to determine future products and where the market is at," says Matthew, who takes great pains in his product selection. "I chose things personally. I started with several products, most of which were selected individually. Knowing not everyone likes what I like, I want to give my customers more options, so they have several brand names to choose from. The blog may help me change what I offer on my site, if people are asking for a specific product."
