CooksDen Announces Culinary Cinema Awards Honoring Food Movies in Unique Categories



To coincide with this year'ss Academy Awards, CooksDen has announced the winners of its All-Time Culinary Cinema Awards. The Culinary Cinema Awards honor the finest achievement in food-themed movie-making and are handed out in several unique food-related categories.

Along with conventional film award categories, several unique categories are featured in the Culinary Cinema Awards. These include Best On-Screen Feast, Sexiest Food Movie, Best Restaurant Industry Movie and Most Disturbing Food Movie. Other categories include Best Food Movie, Best Leading Actor in a Food Movie, Best Leading Actress in a Food Movie and Best Food Documentary.

The winner of the Culinary Cinema award for Best Food Movie was Tampopo, an engaging tale of a Ramen-noodle Chef with aspirations beyond her small-town life. This 1985 film from Japanese virtuoso filmmaker Juzo Itami was honored for its detailed depiction of food and overall entertainment value. Other nominees in the Best Food Movie category included Big Night, Chocolat, Eat Drink Man Woman, La Graine et Le Mulet, Tampopo, Babette'ss Feast, Ratatouille and The Scent of Green Papaya.

Other movies cited included Like Water For Chocolate, La Grand Bouffe, God of Cookery, Gai tung Aap Gong, and many others. In all, over fifty food movies were listed as award winners or runners-up in various categories, making the Culinary Cinema Awards a comprehensive celebration of the best in food movie offerings.
