Deer Hunter Treestand, Co. has been producing hunting stands in Hickory, NC and is the longest standing producer of tree stands in America. Mr. Ken Benfield, an avid bow hunter, founded
the company over thirty years ago with a mission of creating the best stands on the market. The success and longevity of the proven products is testimony to their committment to quality
products. After thirty years in the business, Ken decided to slow down and sought out a like minded hunter to take the reigns of the company, and found it in fellow hunter Dr. Ken
Curtis.
The two Kens will continue to run the company together but with a new emphasis on direct internet sales to keep costs down. The tree stands will continue to be made in USA and the company
remains headquartered in Hickory. The company website ( http://www.deerhunterstands.com/HTML/Home.aspFrmPage=Home )
has been overhauled for easy online purchasing and providing hunters with helpful information and product updates.
Dr. Curtis is a practicing chiropractor and brings a unique perspective to the company as he has introduced several new products, including optional memory foam and lumbar support and
belts. In a recent market survey conducted at hunting trade shows, the chief complaint about tree stands is that many are uncomfortable. Therefore comfort and safety will remain the focus
of new product development. Subsequently there have been several innovations to the existing product line as well as a new lock on stand that will be released in 2007.
In three decades Deerhunter Treestands has had many firsts, leading the treestand industry in innovation with constant advancements in quality and design to improve the hunting
experience. They were the first treestand company to switch from steel to aircraft aluminum construction. The first to incorporate X-bracing to increase stability of climbing stands and
tower stands. The first to offer a welded aluminum tree stand to make their hunting stands stronger and more quiet. The first to reinforce bolts with welded aluminum frames. And they have
the only low profile WAR stand with a beveled boomerang blade that bites the tree at a 90 degree angle that will not slip like some cable stands or those that pull at an angle toward the
ground. Their constant corporate inventiveness has led to a long history of happy hunters with no safety recalls, no lawsuits nor documented injuries with the use of one of these
stands.
