Leica Adds 32 mm Models To The Leica Ultravid Binocular Line

March 2, 2005 -- Initial ULTRAVIDS included 42 mm models in 7, 8, and 10 power, and 50 mm models in 8, 10, and 12 power. All are available in either green or black rubber armor. In addition leather coated models in 8x42 and 10x42 were introduced.



Leica binoculars is now offering two mid-size binoculars incorporating the same high performance characteristics required for the ULTRAVID line. The two new models are the 8x32 mm and 10x32 mm ULTRAVIDS. These additions make the Leica ULTRAVID line the most complete ultra-high performance binocular available. Carrying out the theme of binoculars "Light Done Right," the new binoculars incorporate the same design features and construction materials that have set this line apart from any other binoculars.



The body housing of the new model is made of magnesium, just like all other ULTRAVID models. The wall thickness is twice that of other binoculars on the market, making the ULTRAVIDS stronger and more durable.



To produce even greater structural integrity and longer product life, Leica has crafted the center axis shaft from space age titanium. The remaining parts of the focusing assembly are made of metal components to insure years of trouble free use.



Like other ULTRAVID models the new 32 mm models incorporate Leica's exclusive High Lux System (HLS), and stray light elimination features. The High Lux System (HLS) is a special mirror coating that enhances the Prism Systems performance with 43 separate coatings on the glass surfaces. The result is extraordinary light transmission that delivers the brightest and most natural image available from a binocular today.



Other features of the new 32 mm ULTRAVIDS make them more comfortable and faster to use. The soft touch black rubber armored covering provides a positive non-slip grip. Twist up styled eyecups with two click stops enable the user to adjust them for perfect viewing even if they wear eyeglasses. In addition these eyecups are removable for easy cleaning of the eyepiece.



The new 32mm ULTRAVID models also incorporate the legendary Leica innovated, multi-function center drive. This drive allows for quick focusing from near focus to infinite with just over one complete revolution of the wheel. Quick adjustments of the integrated diopter are made easy with a ring-shaped window in the top of the adjustment wheel.



Each ULTRAVID binocular is waterproof to a depth of 16.5 feet and has an extreme operating temperature range of -13 to + 131F. Fog proof and imperious to the elements, Leica ULTRAVID binoculars are reliable in any environment.
