One Stop Systems Announces the First 13Slot CompactPCI Express CompactPCI...

One Stop Systems announces the first-of-its-kind 13-slot, single backplane solution that allows developers to combine advanced CompactPCI Express bus architecture with the legacy CompactPCI standard. Featuring 13 fully hot-swappable slots, this 's8220;hybrid's8221; backplane provides unprecedented development opportunities by accommodating mixed assemblies of existing CompactPCI-based applications and new applications using CompactPCI Express.



CompactPCI Express uses differential signaling to transfer data instead of the parallel signaling found in Compact PCI. With data carried by point-to-point connections in 's8220;lanes,'s8221; CompactPCI Express allows data throughput of up to 4Gb per second. The OSS backplane provides six PCIe slots and four 32-bit/33MHz CPCI slots for a straightforward and cost-effective migration path and higher data rates. The six CPCIe slots, all of which are PICMG EXP.0-compliant and support rear I/O, consist of a single x16 type 1slot, two x4 type 1 slots, and three x4 type 2 slots. The four 32-bit/33MHz CPCI slots, defined in PICMG 2.x, also support rear I/O.



In addition to the system, bridge and switch slots, the 6U version of the backplane adds a system monitor slot to its collection of peripheral slots. All peripheral slots are hot-swappable, and both versions of the backplane offer connections to at least 1 SATA or SAS drives and support numerous power and signal headers to reduce the number or length of cabling. Two P47 power connectors for redundant 200W power supplies are provided.

The CPCIe/CPCI Hybrid Backplane is available immediately. The 6U version lists for $1,459 and the 3U version for $997.
