Pigs in Space Saving Application

Oliver Twinsafe has a proud history of anticipating the needs of their customers. The double block and bleed technology that secured the British valve manufacturer an enviable reputation for delivering innovative flow control solutions to the oil, gas and petrochemical industries was developed and available long before health and safety watchdogs began insisting on double blocked lines.

The latest breakthrough from Oliver Twinsafe is a range of small bore pig launching and receiving stations including a compact pig manifold (CPM) for introducing spheres directly into a pipeline and a compact pigging system (CPS) which will launch and receive any length of pig in a design typical of standard industry practices.

The Oliver Twinsafe Compact Pig Manifold offers a safer alternative to the traditional pig valve where the sphere is introduced directly to the cavity of a ball under load. The CPM has integral double block and bleed valves on the bypass, drain and vent valves allowing the sphere to be introduced between two closed balls via the removable pig cage, the nature of which defines the cage as either a launcher or receiver. The cage can even be removed altogether creating a full bore double block and bleed valve.

The Compact Pigging System marries a typical in-line T launching and receiving system with Oliver Twinsafe'ss respected Cartridge Style Standard Length Double Block and Bleed Valve which means that the entire unit measures just 1.3 metres in overall length.

Both patent applied for products utilize valve interlocks as standard which ensure that the hatch cannot be opened whilst there is pressure in the pig bay and Oliver Twinsafe have standardized on the Bandlock's8482; 2 high pressure quick opening closure incorporating a pressure warning screw. The CPM and the CPS are offered with a pig detector incorporated into the unit as standard.

Although it may seem it, this is not a radical departure for Oliver Twinsafe, explained Deputy Chairman, Mark Oliver. The CPM and CPS products are a first for us but our business is built on compact solutions for the pipeline industry. Really, we'sve been doing this for decades.
