Z University.org (ZU), an innovative workforce readiness company, recently launched a free online
assessment tool to help businesses determine whether an internship program is right for them. It also helps career services professionals to qualify employer 's8220;site
sponsors's8221; as viable for students to intern.
The Internship Program Value-Feasibility Assessment, which is accessible via
the ZUniversity.org homepage at internship program best practices, value propositions,
viability requirements, and insights drawn from Z University's8217;s unique experience and innovative endeavors.
's8220;Internship programs create real value for all involved, including for employers to greatly increase productivity if they manage student interns the right way,'s8221; says Matthew
Zinman, president of Z University.org. 's8220;We developed this online tool to help companies and non-profit organizations to assess their readiness to have interns and to educate them
about the tremendous potential involved.'s8221;
Once respondents complete the Value-Feasibility Assessment, they submit their answers for computation and can view their value and feasibility scores immediately. The results may then be
compared with each scoring table, which have four levels ranging from minimal to high value and unlikely to highly feasible. The assessment is designed to provide a benchmark reference
and is subject to range of variables.
For example, a low feasibility score may reflect that an employer has limited structure in place to manage an internship effectively. However, this may not factor in the benefits of
procuring resources, such as ZU's8217;s Intern Toolkit's8482;, that make internship programs more valuable to manage effectively.
Z University.org does more than educate employers; it enables them to make their internship programs most productive and valuable. ZU developed Intern Toolkit's8482; as a complete
resource to manage internship programs most easily and effectively. Nearly 60 informative
components provide everything needed to recruit, manage, train, and - eventually - hire today'ss top college talent. It features seven modules: Program Planning; Recruitment; Screening
and Hiring; Orientation; Work Management; Performance Measurement; and, Skills Development. It is available for purchase online at www.InternToolkit.com. The contents are organized in a tabbed spiral binder and provided on a CD-ROM so users can adapt and make its many tools their
own.
Zinman adds, 's8220;Many businesses overlook the substantial value that interns can contribute to their bottom line. Even the smallest company can make a program successful with the right
tools. However, these businesses also lack the personnel and other resources to structure an internship program the right way. We's8217;ve developed Intern Toolkit to remove that barrier
and give employers everything they need to do it right. We are trying to encourage both businesses and students to open the world of opportunity that internships create. We ultimately
seek to improve the quality of programs for the students to gain the best practical experience so they may succeed all the more when they enter the workforce and beyond.'s8221;
In addition to developing Intern Toolkit and complementary resources, Z University.org is pursuing a number
of other initiatives to fulfill its core mission: providing internship program training and consulting services; creating proprietary internship program diagnostic tools; formalizing a
mentoring curriculum for students and professionals alike; developing specialized training programs for entry-level workers; establishing a non-profit institute to conduct education
campaigns and market research; award scholarships to non-paid interns; and subsidize ZU products and services to charitable organizations.
