First Western, located at 318 Canyon Avenue in Fort Collins, will match up to $5,000 in contributions to the "Windsor Re-Create Fund," which will be used to rebuild lost park and recreation amenities. The fund was established by Windsor's Parks and Recreation Advisory Board who will administer disbursements.
"The most valuable asset at First Western is the people in our community," said Jim Sprout, chairman of First Western Trust Bank, Northern Colorado. "It's really heartbreaking to hear about the damages and see such pain in the community and we hope to help make a difference for the citizens of Windsor."
The May 22 tornado tore a 34-mile path of destruction through Windsor, causing more than $150 million in damages, including the loss of more than 300 tress and town amenities such as parks and playgrounds.
Donations from First Western will be used to plant new trees in heavily damaged areas such as the Lakeview Cemetery and Main Park, helping to re-build the landscape of Windsor.
"We are committed to being part of the efforts to rebuild the Windsor community," said Bud Noffsinger, President of First Western Trust Bank, Northern Colorado. "Helping people improve their lives is what we do."
