Tempe, AZ August 6, 2007 -- Gary W. Fleming has been appointed by Governor Janet Napolitano to a five year term as member of the Arizona State Board of Accountancy effective July 3, 2007. He brings 26 years of public accounting experience to the board. Gary serves on the firm's executive committee, is the firm wide Director of Taxation and a Partner in the Tempe office of Henry & Horne, LLP. He is also an active member of the American institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he served as a past board member for Arizona Forum for Improvement of Taxes (AFIT), a past president and member of the ASCPA's tax steering committee, and the IRS and Arizona Department of Revenue Tax Liaison Committees.
About the Arizona Sate Board of Accountancy
The Arizona State Board of Accountancy (the Board) was created in 1919 to establish and enforce standards of qualification and accounting practice for certified public accountants (CPAs),
public accountants (PAs) and accounting firms. The primary purpose of the Board is to protect the public from unlawful, incompetent, unqualified or unprofessional CPAs and PAs through
certification, regulation and rehabilitation.
The Board registers and regulates the CPAs doing business in this state and is made up of seven Governor-appointed members -- five CPAs and two non-CPA public members.
