SHMAIS.com the website home of Shmais News Service that stands apart from other Jewish news services in that it caters specifically to the news and activities going on amongst the
estimated 250,000 worldwide members of Chabad-Lubavitch and the emissaries of the Lubavitch Rebbe OBM in over 70 countries is celebrating its 8th anniversary.
The news service was started by Brooklyn, NY native Levi Hodakov, a 23-year-old Yeshiva student at the time, who long before Google and the other major news search engines were in
operation began sending out links to various articles about Chabad-Lubavitch that he had found on the web. An initial subscriber list of just 15-20 people quickly grew to well over 1000
and shortly thereafter SHMAIS.com was born.
Today, Hodakov says his website is visited over 12,000 times daily and is listed on Alexa.com within the top 70,000 websites worldwide.
