ETB Launches New Tech Teaching Service for Educators

#8211; A new resource is now available for educators to learn about classroom technology and how it can be used to enhance student performance. Educational Technology & Beyond, (ETB), is a new company launched through the collaborative efforts of Brian Donahue, Nancy Rundell, and Paul Gigliotti to fill a gap in the field of educational technology. With over thirty years of combined experience in education, ETB offers practical guidance in the often confusing maze of instructional technology.

's8220;The technology available in the field of education can be frustrating and confusing for many educators,'s8221; said Rundell, a seventh-grade social studies teacher at Shiloh Middle School in Parma, Ohio. 's8220;We want to show fellow educators not only what works and what doesn's8217;t, but also how to use technology to get the most out of their students,'s8221; Rundell added.

In order to accomplish this, ETB has developed a series of presentations and workshops to teach how to use technology in the classroom. Courses are individually designed to match the needs of each audience. For example, a beginning course will offer help to those new to the world of computers, demonstrating how using basic functions such as email and spreadsheets can improve time management. 's8220;We demonstrate how teachers can easily build homework websites, communicate via email with parents, and use spreadsheets to simplify and speed up their grading process,'s8221; remarked Gigliotti.

ETB is also an authorized reseller of the mimio interactive whiteboard system. Mimio offers districts concerned with their tax payers's8217; dollars a chance to introduce the latest in educational technology at a fraction of the cost of other interactive whiteboard systems. ETB also offers full product support and demonstrations of the full line of mimio products.

ETB is in the process of organizing a series of continuing education courses for educators to be introduced in Northeast Ohio later this year. In addition, ETB is able to custom design in-services programs, workshops and seminars for school districts who are interested in introducing innovative teaching methods into their classrooms. Programs are offered for beginner, interme-diate and advanced levels. More details on upcoming programs are available at the ETB website.

Headquartered in Northeast Ohio, ETB will be presenting at the National Council for the Social Studies 86th Annual Conference in Washington D.C. December 1st - 3rd, 2006, and at the Ohio Middle School Association Annual Conference in Cleveland, Ohio February 22nd - 23rd, 2007.
