Humble ISD Adds New Parent Notification Service

Humble ISD, a district serving approximately 33,000 students in the greater Houston area, has recently implemented a new online communications service to keep parents and community members informed about the district. The service, called Your Schools Insider, is based on the EZCommunicator software from Relatrix Corporation. Humble chose EZCommunicator as a cost-effective tool to notify parents in case of school district emergencies, and also provide the option to sign-up for interest groups and stay informed about news around the district.

EZCommunicator combines e-mail notification with voice and text messaging so Humble ISD can reach parents through different channels of communication. The software integrates with the district's existing website and provides users with the ability to sign-in and update their contact details and preferences. Users can also choose from a list of interest groups and receive email updates on topics ranging from board meetings to employment opportunities with the district.

"EZCommunicator gives us the ability to send thousands of voice, email or text messages out in a matter of minutes", said Karen Collier, Executive Director for Public Information at Humble ISD. "While emergency notification is our top priority, we're also excited about the added convenience of reaching our parents and community members easily and efficiently through the Internet, which they're coming to expect in today's fast-paced world."

Relatrix initially loaded existing contact records for Humble ISD parents so the district can send them notifications, based on which schools their children attend. However, Humble ISD will be opening access to the new Your Schools Insider site in the near future, so that community members, media and others can also sign-up for user accounts and choose their own interest groups.
