Under the collaboration, PrepChamps.com will sponsor a series of sports-themed virtual "battles" on myYearbook.com in which thousands of high school athletes will compete over the coming three months for the titles of Best Male Athlete, Best Female Athlete and Best Overall Athlete.
In myYearbook's Battles, members face off in a thrilling timed photo or video contest to win the admiration of - and most votes from - their fellow members. The PrepChamps-sponsored online Athletic Battles bring an exciting and rewarding new dimension to the popular myYearbook's feature.
"We're excited about working with PrepChamps to even further enhance our Battles section, which is typically the first or second highest trafficked section on myYearbook," said Bill Alena, Vice President of Advertising and Business Development at myYearbook. "We believe that these Athletic Battles with PrepChamps take the benefits to our members to an even higher level, potentially aiding them as they move toward their college careers and life goals beyond."
"This is a great opportunity for the more than five million members of myYearbook - many of whom are high school student athletes - to battle it out through our sponsored Athletic Battles on myYearbook," said Hal Fischer, one of the Founders and Chief Marketing Officer of PrepChamps.
Through this new program, myYearbook members who are student athletes will be able to submit their profile for competition against other student athlete members. The myYearbook community will vote during timed contests to determine the best athlete in each category. The winners will be recognized on both PrepChamps and myYearbook, where battle records will be noted on the member's profile. The profiles are not only seen by millions of myYearbook members, they are also visible to thousands of athletes, college coaches and athletic recruiters looking for top caliber high school athletes at PrepChamps.com.
"Our goal at PrepChamps has always been to help as many high school student athletes as possible to recognized and get recruited," explained Fischer. "Through this new sponsorship, we'll increase our reach to myYearbook and its millions of users. It's also a way for our high school athletes to have some competitive fun; and for the battle winner, well, they get bragging rights and notoriety."
The collaboration between myYearbook and PrepChamps comes at a key time for both companies.
PrepChamps recently launched a dynamic new Web site for the high school sports community that, in addition to allowing members to create an entire athletic profile in a virtual format, enables them to write blogs, create forums and groups online. Perhaps most importantly, members are now able to track their eligibility and progress through PrepChamps' industry groundbreaking NCAA Clearinghouse Checklist.
myYearbook currently ranks as the fourth most popular social network, boasting over 5 million members and growing at a rate of 140,000 members per week to outpace chief rivals. myYearbook steadily attracts more than 20 million visits each month.
