The mark Educational Therapist/Professional (ET/P) is to be used by educational therapists for the following services:
- Educational services, namely providing intensive, individualized remedial intervention to children and adults with learning disabilities and other disorders or problems that interfere with learning in conventional ways;
* Assessing the nature and scope of such disorders or problems;
* Managing client cases;
* Advocating for clients in their home, school, or community setting.
Professional Members of AET who have documented their qualifications may use the (ET/P) after their name(s).
The qualifications for AET Professional Membership and use of Educational Therapist/Professional (ET/P) include:
* Master's Degree or equivalent
* 1,500 direct service hours as an educational therapist in private practice, public or private schools, private clinics, hospitals or public agencies.
* For candidates beginning the direct service requirements, a minimum of one-third (500 hours) must be completed under the supervision of an AET Board Certified Educational Therapist.
